Travelin’ On

Travelin’ On

I quoted one of my favorite songs to my classes during my last week of teaching in the DC area:”It’s part of life and we have to choose/Which path to walk and which pair of shoes/Ain’t one thing that stays for long” (Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line).  Change is inevitable, and though my path has diverged from that of my students, there is not a single day that I don’t think about them.  My job as their teacher was to hold a space for their practice and allow them to celebrate the community they created.  But, they ended up teaching me far more than I ever taught them – how the physical body moves through space and time; how to teach from a place of empathy and compassion; and just how much our asana practice is a moving meditation.  My last classes with them were precious, and they built me up, paving the way for a promising journey in Texas.  To finish the song…”Travelin’ on/I am not afraid of travelin’ on/I am not afraid of travelin’ travelin’ on…”

LOVE this! I’ve heard it said that sometimes sad endings are really great new beginnings in disguise. There are so many GREAT new things for you as you travel along, and I can’t hear hear and learn all about them!
